Sayonara to GM!

GM used to be the American car making company that made history.  For decades they were the biggest car producers in the world and the Americans were true to be proud of it.  It was The American Company.  Their cars were the crème de la crème and all of us wanted to own a big car to drive in the countryside.

However, in the last two decades things started changing for them.  Japanese cars started selling by the thousands and now they have 36,632 direct employees & have invested more than $17 billion dollars in the United States. Toyota is now the American car making company.

There’s only one thing we’ll get to learn from the Nationalization of GM and this learning comes from the book “The Virtue of Selfishness” written by the philosopher Ayn Rand.

There are four characteristics which brand a country unmistakably as a dictatorship: one-party rule—executions without trial or with a mock trial, for political offenses—the nationalization or expropriation of private property—and censorship. A country guilty of these outrages forfeits any moral prerogatives, any claim to national rights or sovereignty, and becomes an outlaw. “Collectivized ‘Rights,’” The Virtue of Selfishness, 105.
