A response to Stephen Green and his statement in “The abominable Dr. Paul“.
America is hated by the rest of the human race. That is something we all hear, know and believe from time to time. People are taught to think that the United States is The naughty tyrannical country. They call them the economical evil power of the world. He is the Big Brother who abuses of the other small brothers. He has shaped world politics and finance into his own interests. We are taught to hate the United States.
- But what is it that we hate about that country?
- Why is it that all underdeveloped countries are hating the United States?
- Why is it that there is a Looney President in Venezuela telling the United States is the evil?
A. We hate the economic power they have and we are envious of it. We want to have that power without any effort.
B. We hate the way they have managed their foreign policy to favor their political & economic interests without even caring about collateral effects.
C. We hate their pop culture and Hollywood movies because they sell stupidity, hate, fear, bloodsheds and tears.
We are taught to hate them because they have managed to grow rich and powerful. But we are only taught one part of the story about their success.
Somehow, we forgot to tell and spread the voice of what are the liberties American were entitled in the Constitution as the basis of their success.
In fact, this is what calls my attention always. We are not taught how the United States became so powerful. We are never taught what principles are supporting their success and historical evolution. We cannot hate them because of their freedoms because we don’t even know them!
America is surely the first country were a Constitution entitled Humans to enjoy liberty at its most. Their freedoms are the right to own property and enforce the contracts to create their wealth.
Nonetheless, what we are taught are not the principles which are the foundations of their liberties. But, we are taught all the damages that have been caused by American citizens and politicians to their constituents and foreigners.
We hate their bad politics. But I am sure we all would love to enjoy their freedoms!!!

america fucking rules and our movies are fucking awesome teah are president was stupid but your all jelous of our freedom
Dear dick,
What freedom are you talking about? Because the US is pretty far from being a Free country since mid XIX century or earlier… the only Free things that are left in the US belong to the ideas of the Founding Fathers and even those have been manipulated, misunderstood and f*cked by politicians and left-wing assholes in the last decades.
Here’s the Article:
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/22665562
The title is “How Bush Destroyed the Republican Party” by Sean Wilentz (August, 2008 magazine). I liked a lot the review he did on the last 8 years of Bush on the White House… Again, I still think that shits like this have been going on for ages.
Hope you like it,
I agree with Essther. It is not hard to believe in. I do believe there is still a huge opportunity for Americans to stop the mess that has been done by politicians during the last 150 years. Because problems in America date as long ago to the Civil War period.
I have been going through some notes on John Quincy Adams and can’t stop thinking of him as a real idealist and maybe the last Founding Father. After him it seems that there are no more “true Americans” to consider in US politics. Still, there will be always a chance to make a change in our lives. The ONLY THING we actually need is Freedom of Speech and government’s respect for our civil liberties.
They can take us everything except our freedom of thought.
I read a couple weeks ago a very good review on recent US politics in the Rolling Stone magazine which I STRONGLY recommend to read: (will get back it soon) have to seek for the name in my house…
I have lived in the US all my life, travelled to over 25 countries and take exception to what Steve has said (not just because he calls Europe a country). There is no strip searching in the airports here, and maybe he was simply taking creative liberty in saying so, but I think that is negligent and naive to say so.
I have a number of misgivings about living in this country and hope for the day that the US is run by a president with an intellectual curiosity, a dynamic internal discussion that leads him (or her) to believe that a country is only a country because of borders and that the world should dictate our politics. The global economy, the global love of the world we live in.
It’s not hard to believe in.
Oh, and one final comment: I HAVE lived in other countries, unlike “The Kman Dice” who posted above. I lived in Europe for 2 years, and just moved to Canada last month. WITHOUT QUESTION Europe and Canada are much, much better countries to live and work in than USA! Don’t believe that shit Kman Dice says about Viet Nam, or even more pathetically Iraq! He is a fucking idiot–or perhaps a shill for the U.S. government. Don’t make me laugh: the USA invades Iraq “to spread democracy”…yeah, right! The U.S. government just recently admitted they invaded Iraq for the OIL!!! If the USA cared about “democracy”, why didn’t they invade Myanmar (Burma?), or Darfur, or Saudi Arabia??? The USA doesn’t give a shit about democracy…never did. It’s all about keeping wealthy corporations in control of precious resources like oil, gas, and natural resources. Warning to people outside of USA who want to move here: BEWARE of the GRASS IS GREENER SYNDROME: America is a harsh and brutal place to live. There is NO social services here…if you cannot find a job, you will be sleeping under a bridge, and eating out of a dumpster…CAREFULLY consider moving here if you don’t have connections here to help you. This is a SAD country with many, many problems, not to mention THE LARGEST PRISON POPULATION IN THE WORLD. Think caredfully about your plans to come to this place…BE FOREWARNED.
The USA is now a pile of SHIT. I’m a U.S. citizen, born and raised in Michigan. It is SO SAD to see what has become of my once great country: up until Reagan took office in 1980 the USA WAS a great place. Ever since Reagan, e.g. the “republican revolution” the USA has been in a downward sprial…jobwise, politically, and most sadly civil libertieswise.
Anybody, ANYBODY, who tries to tell you that the USA is a “great country” nowadays–especially after 8 years of Bush/Cheny-is a FUCKING IDIOT. If you like being strip searched every time you try to fly somewhere in an airplane, or having the shit kicked out of you by nazi-thugs when you try to attend a Bush speech, or a Republican National Convention like they had in St Paul last week–then yes, move to the USA and be a civil liberties masochist. America is a shithole now, no different from China, Russia, or Saudi Arabia.
Everyone hates the US-but yet they want to come here and make our money…
No one is perfect…but i would rather live here instead of any other country…
